The short story: In 2016, I vow to actually read books. And I’m inviting you to read with me.
The long story: Summer 2015 was one of the worst periods of depression I’ve ever experienced. It was also my second to last semester as an undergrad. In the last five years or so, I have really only done what I had to: school, work, repeat. I have only read books and papers required by my program, and I used to love reading more than anything. I haven’t been looking after myself; I miss doing things I enjoy. So, in 2016, I am going to change the way I’m living. I am going to actually read books—publicly, because this is not becoming a New Year’s resolution that I forget about in two weeks. And I am inviting anyone who wants to to start reading with me.
I’m planning to post review videos, discussion threads, book lists. Also probably some of my own writing/writing process. People are welcome to share their similar book and reading—or writing—related things. Let’s support each other in choosing to read books.
